MIXTURE, GEAR & PULLEY RATIOS

A GEAR RATIO ILLUSTRATION

The black dotted gear turn 4 times to turn the red dotted gear 1 time.

The drive gear has 14 teeth and the idler gear has 28 teeth. This makes the gear ratio 2 to 1 or 2:1. The second set of gears also has 14 teeth & 28 teeth also has a 2 to 1 ratio.

The ratio is: 2:1, 2:1 or (2x2)/1 = 4/1. The motor turns 4 times to turn the red dotted gear once.

Mathematically this reduction gear ratio is: (2÷1) * (2÷1) = 4/1 or 4:1
